Last weekend wasn’t just Mother’s Day Weekend, it was #BougieMoms Weekend! I wanted to celebrate by giving focused attention to self-care and the sisterhood of motherhood.
I mapped out an itinerary that had a combination of bold, fun, cute, bougie and new things! It was a much needed #BougieBreak and an opportunity to re-connect with myself as a person, which allows me to be the best mother I can be.
I started my weekend at noon with a quick stop in the French Quarter to pick up my huge Badass Bougie Mom Balloon.
I wanted to make a bold statement about our mission for the weekend. One thing I didn’t think about is how much attention I’d get walking through downtown NOLA with a gigantic balloon
It was a great conversation starter and an opportunity to chat with people about the #NOLABougie brand.
As I prepared for our #MomsNightOut event, I popped into Paint’d Nail Salon to get my gel mani! I’m typically don’t do nail designs, but I decided to live a little this weekend and try something new!
As soon as I opened the design book, there it was…the Rose’ design! I had to have it! Did I mention I’m obsessed with all things Rose’ lately? The Paint’d Nails studio is gorgeous. The decor is pink, of course, and the studio is bright and airy. There’s a summer special right now, so book your appointment!
Later that night, I hosted a Bubbles Happy Hour at NOSH, if you didn’t know, Bubbles by the glass start at $4 from 4pm until close on Fridays!
The secret’s out and now you know where to find me.
NOSH also has $5 small plates until 7pm and a DJ!
Myself and 12 other fantastic #BougieMamas toasted to the start of our weekend and I reminded them that “Bougie isn’t about being better than anyone, it’s about wanting the best for yourself!”
Check out NOSH and tell Jeff that Nola Bougie sent ya!
After NOSH we headed over to a rooftop pool for a night cap and a little dancing! So many rooftop lounge options in NOLA with amazing views!
Saturday, we had to check out Southern Swings Nail Bar & Spa! Cute cute cute!
This extraordinary gem is a full service spa and salon with a vintage country “front porch” feel that instantly takes you to a different place the moment you step into the front yard.
The owner Brandi came up with the genius idea to combine down home comfort with beauty and self-care. Can you say #BougieMoms heaven? The ambiance was already impressive but to make things even more amazing – the customer service and spa services were excellent. You can even get a pedicure outside!
The Goat Milk and Honey pedicure was divine.
There are also some unique products, candles, soaps and novelty items for sale. I found what I think is the best invention ever – a toothpick that looks like a lipstick!
Brandi is so sweet and she has a real gem on Magazine Street! We even ran into a Bou getting her pedicure. Who’s coming back with me?
We headed back to one of my favorite hotels in NOLA – The Roosevelt – for some girl talk and fun in the sun!
We are always so busy that sometimes its hard to make time for our friends. But its important to dedicate time to friendships because our friends are our sounding boards, our support system, the people we can vent to and be ourselves with without fear of judgement, competition, or drama.
If you have girlfriends in your life that you can be crazy cool with and just celebrate each other – you are blessed indeed.
The Roosevelt rooftop is a great place to connect with your girls!
Cabana rental is worth every dime and you just have to try the “Frozevelt” blended Rose’ daiquiri. Did I mention I love Rose’? Eaux. lol
Next stop, more Champagne! We headed to the Champagne Stroll on Magazine Street. There is something about that NOLA energy that just gives you instant joy! While strolling, off course we had to visit the Bead Shop! Georgia had the best tropical mimosa and I snagged some new earrings.
We also popped into the Grand Opening of Lily New Orleans. Bous, this is your go to for haute fashion and let’s not forget…Nola Bougie! Our shirts will be available at Lily later this summer!
We ended the night with dinner at Meril, I had to let my Bou try that Pineapple Upside Down Cornbread! If you haven’t tried it and the fried turkey necks – you have no idea what you’re missing! I had the cheeseburger flatbread and it was nom nom nom nom nom good!
We capped off our #BougieMoms weekend on Mother’s Day with our families and enjoyed a lovely brunch at The Roosevelt. The food was delicious and bottomless mimosas are always a plus!
The music set the tone for a lovely and #Bougie event. I even ran into one of my bous and gave her a sweet treat from Mynne’s Chocolates! It was the perfect bookend to a #BetterBestandBougie Mother’s Day weekend!
Remember to make time to do the things you love with the people you love. Even if there isn’t a holiday coming up. If you aren’t sure what to do – pick your self-care categories and plan from there: something fun, cute, bold, or bougie – doesn’t matter, as long as you do what is best for you during that time.
If you need any recommendations or tips on how to plan a better, best, and bougie girls weekend, don’t hesitate to inbox the Nola Bougie Team – we got your back!
